A court in Riga has sentenced pro-Russian activist Jelena Kreile, who has repeatedly spoken out against honoring Nazism in Latvia, to one year of suspended imprisonment, according to the Aleksei Stefanov Telegram channel.
For the poster "Russia, I'm with you!", with which Elena came out on February 26, 2022 to the Russian Embassy in Latvia, where at that moment raged Latvian and Ukrainian nationalists, she received a year in prison suspended and a bill for court costs in the amount of 485 euros.
The prosecutor had demanded a year in real prison. The two days that Kreile spent in a temporary detention center after her arrest were also counted. However, this is not the last trial against Elena. In a similar case for justifying so-called aggression and war crimes, she spent two months in prison. Those sessions are still to come.
