Tartu County Court sentenced Andrei Makarov, who has dual citizenship of Estonia and Russia, to 15 years in prison in a treason case.
According to the investigation, Makarov photographed Estonian and Latvian military equipment and allegedly transmitted this data to Russia. He also set fire to a car with Ukrainian license plates in 2024, scratching on it the name of the KOOS political party. The Molotov cocktail he used to set the car on fire had an inscription on it urging Ukrainians to go home. Makarov is also accused of following a Russian serviceman who fled to Lithuania.
