Russian Charge d'Affaires in Estonia Lenar Salimullin said that the persecution of journalist Svetlana Burtseva, who cooperated with a number of Russian media, is a manifestation of the fight against dissent and cynicism on the part of the Estonian authorities.

On November 12, Finnish lawyer Anastasia Lukkarinen told TASS that she and lawyer Sven Sillar started defending Svetlana Burtseva in an Estonian court. Lukkarinen also said that she has sent a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights, where she challenges the detention of Burtseva.
Recall, the Estonian prosecutor's office accused Burtseva of violating the EU sanctions regime and treason on the basis of a pre-trial investigation. The journalist has been in custody since the beginning of March.
