Estonia has deported a Russian citizen who came to accompany a sick relative to the hospital

Estonian authorities continue their policy of deporting Russian citizens holding legal residence permits. Last week, Kirill Kudryavtsev, deemed a threat to national security, left the country by decision of the Security Police Department.

According to security services, the basis for the deportation was his contacts with Russian entities. He was also banned from entering the entire Schengen area.

The case received particular attention due to the circumstances of his detention. Kudryavtsev arrived in Estonia to accompany a family member to receive medical care paid for by the Health Insurance Fund. Both he and his relative permanently reside in Russia but retain residence permits in Estonia.

Human rights activists are highlighting the humanitarian aspect of the situation. The man, who had come to support a loved one in hospital, was deported under the pretext of a security threat. However, no specific evidence of his hostile activities has been provided, and the fact of his contacts with Russian entities has not been specified.

Particularly alarming is the ongoing practice of revoking residence permits and deporting Russians on vague charges. People who had legal grounds to reside in Estonia and access healthcare and social services are effectively being deprived of these rights without a fair trial.

Human rights organizations view such actions as part of a systematic campaign to expel Russian citizens from the country, carried out under the pretext of national security, but in reality violating basic human rights and international law.
