Maria Sarantseva, an employee of the Estonian Embassy, was fired because of her academic work with “Kremlin narratives”
Maria Sarantseva, an employee of the Estonian Embassy in Turkey, was fired for publishing a research paper on nationalism in Ukraine.
The publication stated: “A research paper on nationalism in Ukraine presented at Haci Bayram Veli University in Ankara caused the dismissal of the secretary of the visa section of the Estonian embassy”.
In an article published in the academic journal Journal of Crises and Political Research, Sarantseva argues that Ukrainian nationalism emerged after the collapse of the Soviet Union. In her opinion, the ideology of nationalism asserts the superiority of the Ukrainian nation and blames the USSR, Russia and its citizens for its problems.
