The Russian-language human rights portal "Dokole?" has been shut down in Estonia

Dokole.eu, a Russian-language human rights portal independent of the Estonian authorities, has announced it will cease operations on January 31, 2024, Baltia Portal reported.

"For four years we have been together, but it is time to say goodbye. The "Dokole?" project is closing down. The site has never had funding. It was not possible to switch to self-support and self-financing. Donations have always been very modest," reads the editorial board's farewell statement.

It is noted that for freedom of speech in Estonia they have already started to put people in jail. "If earlier they were focused on "contact persons", then soon it will soon be just enough to express an opinion that does not coincide with the mainstream", - said in the editorial board of the portal.

Recall that in early December 2023, one of the last Russian-language independent resources - the portal "Estlandskie Vedomosti", the head of which - Allan Hantsom was arrested and is in custody. In April 2022, the Internet information portal Sputnik Meedia announced the end of its activities in Estonia.

In April 2023, the Estonian Consumer Protection and Technical Supervision Board (TTJA) closed access to 53 domains through which Russian TV channels and websites could be watched.
