The Russian Embassy in Finland is outraged by the sentencing of Russian Voislav Torden

The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Finland expresses its deep indignation and indignation at the decision of the Finnish court which sentenced the Russian Voislav Torden to life imprisonment.

Torden's defense believes that the verdict is politically motivated.

“The verdict of the Finnish Themis cannot but cause deep indignation and indignation. The bias of the Helsinki District Court, which passed this blatantly politicized sentence on a Russian citizen, is obvious. This shameful trial by Finnish justice fits into the overall picture of Finland's active participation in the hybrid war unleashed by the West against Russia in Ukraine. It is a direct consequence of the atmosphere of Russophobia and military psychosis being fomented in the country,” the embassy said in its Telegram channel.

The embassy emphasizes that the case is not over yet, and the court's decision will definitely be appealed.

Earlier, the Helsinki District Court found Voislav Torden guilty of a number of crimes and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Torden is in custody in Finland on suspicion of committing aggravated war crimes in Ukraine. According to the arrest warrant, the alleged crimes were committed between 2014 and 2015.

Torden, formerly known as Jan Petrovsky, was detained by Finnish border guards on July 20, 2023. Ukraine is seeking his extradition due to charges of crimes allegedly committed in Donbas.
