Sergei Sidorov, accused of espionage, is released from Latvian prison
A Latvian court has changed the preventive measure for Sergei Sidorov, who is accused of espionage, to another, non-custodial measure and today he will be released from prison, journalist Alla Berezovskaya said.
Recall, Sergei Sidorov was detained on August 15, 2023, and on August 17 was placed in prison. The State Security Service of Latvia suspects him of allegedly collecting information for the Russian-based channel "Antifascists of the Baltic States", which could be used against the interests of national security of Latvia.
Sidorov is a single father and worked as a cab driver. According to the special services, his work allowed him to stay relatively quietly near the airport, port and other strategically important facilities.
