Prominent politician Aivo Peterson, who is in an Estonian prison, was elected co-chairman of the Koos/MeTogether party for Peace, Equal Rights and Good Neighborhood, Baltica portal reported.
The event was planned at the Old Irish bar, but due to the owner's refusal to hold the convention at the last minute, it was moved to another building.
Despite the change of venue, the congress gathered more than 100 delegates, including those from Tallinn, Tartumaa, Ida-Virumaa and Pärnu. Amendments to the statutes allowing up to three co-chairs were adopted, after which Leila Eerits, Eduard Fedotov and Aivo Peterson were elected. Peterson, having given his consent through a notary, became one of the party's leaders despite his position.
Also at the congress, the party's board was expanded. In addition to the five previous board members (Oleg Ivanov, Eduard Fedotov, Leila Aerits, Aleksei Teterev and Julia Smoli), it now also includes Igor Hopp, Margus Liiva, Julle Pukk and Aivo Peterson.
