On September 30, 2024, Kaunas District Court confirmed the decision of the first instance that one of the founders of the liquidated “International Neighborhood Form” Erika Švenčienienienė was justly fined 700 euros for publishing an image of Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin on the social network Facebook, Baltica portal reports.
The court decision came into force immediately, is final and cannot be appealed. “It should be noted that propaganda of the ideology of the totalitarian regime established by Lenin is prohibited by the law of the Republic of Lithuania, which prohibits propaganda of totalitarian and authoritarian regimes and their ideologies,” Kaunas District Court emphasized.
The court also rejected the complaint of lawyer Švenčienienė, ruling that her actions related to the placement and demonstration of an image of Lenin with a commentary constituted propaganda of communist symbols - a symbol of the totalitarian regime established by the leader of the Communist Party of the USSR.
As a reminder, Kaunas County police in June fined Švenčienienė 700 euros for the woman sharing his picture and Facebook post on April 22, Lenin's birthday.
