The chairman of the Russian community of Poltava region, Viktor Shestakov, was sentenced to 15 years in prison, the information and analytical portal "Russia and Compatriots" - www.russkie.org - reported.

The court found him guilty under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - part 2 of Article 111 (high treason in wartime conditions) and part 2, 3 of Article 436-2 (justification, recognition of lawfulness, denial of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

The well-known public figure is called "an agent of Russian military intelligence, who conducted subversive anti-Ukrainian activities in the information sphere". Among the main accusations against Viktor Shestakov was "preparation of more than 60 publications for the Russian online publications "One Motherland" and "Strategic Culture Foundation".

Viktor Shestakov is the chairman of the Russian Community of Poltava region, one of the active participants of the movement of foreign Russian compatriots, a well-known pro-Russian journalist and publicist.
