Комментарий Посольства РФ в Эстонии в связи с началом судебного процесса над С.Б.Бурцевой

The Russian Embassy in Tallinn published on its Telegram page a comment on the beginning of the trial of journalist Svetlana Burtseva:

- We regret to note that the fight against dissent continues in Estonia. Following the speedy conviction of A. Hantsom, editor of the Estlandskie Vedomosti online publication, the trial of journalist Svetlana B. Burtseva has been launched. The "law enforcers" are trying to accuse her of violating anti-Russian sanctions and even of a "crime against the Estonian state" under far-fetched pretexts. And they accuse her of preparing articles and materials whose content does not correspond to local propaganda narratives.

Where is the notorious freedom of speech about which the authorities of "democratic" Estonia are so fond of talking? Obviously, such abuses are yet another manifestation of the cynicism of official Tallinn, which is trying to settle scores with unwanted independent activists under the guise of protecting national security.

We would recommend that instead of continuing the "witch-hunt" and the widespread search for a fictitious "Russian threat", the authorities of the republic should finally address the really serious problems, including the deplorable state of the national economy, the decline in industrial production and the rise in unemployment.
