Kaunas District Court initiated a new criminal case against Algirdas Paleckis

Kaunas District Court has opened a criminal case in which Algirdas Paleckis, who is serving a prison sentence "for spying for Russia", is accused of slandering Seimas member Laurynas Kasciunas and publicly supporting international crimes, the Baltic portal reported, citing the well-known writer Valery Ivanov.

Last week it was not possible to start consideration of the case on the video from Kaunas prison, where A. Paleckis arrives, because the recognized victim MP L. Kasciunas could not participate in the court hearing due to his busy schedule. It was decided to postpone the trial until February 27, 2024.

"Sometimes this committee would like to call it the 'Nazi Security and Defense Committee' because L. Kasciƫnas himself was once a member of the Nazi party," A. Paleckis said earlier in a telephone interview from Kaunas prison, pointing out that the current lawmaker and head of the Lithuanian Seimas Security and Defense Committee had several years before been deputy chairman of the Lithuanian National Democratic Party headed by the well-known nationalist Mindaugas Murza.

This, as well as "denying and grossly belittling the responsibility of the USSR for the deaths of people during the genocide of the participants of the post-war armed resistance in Lithuania" of the Soviet power, when more than 25 thousand not only active builders of socialist Lithuania, but also ordinary civilians: women, children and old people were killed, are incriminated against A. Paleckis.
