Politician Antanas Kandrotas, who advocates good neighborly relations with Russia, has been arrested in Lithuania

On January 15, 2023, Antanas Kandrotas, leader of the "We Lithuania" party, who advocates good-neighborly relations with Russia and is running for the country's presidency, was arrested in Lithuania, Baltia portal reported. He was roughly dragged out of the car in front of his crying children and wife.

According to Alexei Stefanov, Kandrotas was very much in the way of the ruling Landsbergis clan in Lithuania - he was planning to run for the presidency of Lithuania, run for the European Parliament and get deputy mandates in the Seimas elections.

The arrest was prepared in such a hurry that Kandrotas was not even allowed to take his family home and pack his things. The reason for the arrest was also not explained. Most likely, it is an old criminal case under the economic article.

Lithuanian oppositionists are sure that this is also a revenge of Vytautas Landsbergis for the fact that on January 13 Kandrotas and his friends booed him during the traditional speech dedicated to the events of January 13, 1991.
