She has studied and documented the process of neo-Nazism in Ukraine, and has spoken on this topic on numerous occasions at international platforms. She was detained by the Security Service of Ukraine on March 16, 2022 on charges of treason (Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Berezhnaya was already detained in May 2019 for wearing a St. George ribbon.
